Right after our informational interview call, check your email. Subject: Your Rainmaker ‘homework’. If you don’t see it, please press reply to this note and let me know, so I can send it again. That email will include the questionnaire we used in the interview.
Your homework is to finish filling it in and add any details that you weren’t able to cover during the call.
Once you’ve finished filling out the questionnaire, we’ll need you to upload it, along with your target job descriptions and your former resume, so our team can use them for the writing process. We’re excited to take over the heavy lifting, but we won’t get started until we’ve got all your uploaded materials.
Fill in the Rest of the Questionnaire
Remember, you’ll spend some time—but hopefully not much more than a couple of hours—completing the questionnaire.
There’s no need to include your current or former job description or every single responsibility you’ve held. What we’re looking for is an insider’s view into how you solve employer/client problems, what you do well, and, especially, what you achieved.
It is important to provide the most relevant and specific information you can, keeping in mind what might be important to your target employer. The more targeted the information you provide us, the more you come to life on paper.
Note: We once had a client spend 9 focused hours on her questionnaire, despite our request for no more than a few hours. Please don’t do this. Specific is better than more. There’s no need for the homework to be a painful experience.
Create Your File Sharing Profile & Upload Your Documents
Once the questionnaire is complete, we’ll need you to upload it, along with your target job descriptions, former resume and cover letter. First, you’ll create a file sharing profile online and then upload your documents.
Don’t worry, it’s pretty straightforward. We’ve detailed the steps for you on a separate page listed below, in case you get hung up, but if you’re comfortable diving in, feel free to simply click and get started.
