300% increase in pay!

I went from an assistant to an executive when I started 3 weeks ago as the Director of Operations, I tripled my base pay, will receive bonuses, profit sharing, full benefits, and now have realized my ideal income status (unlimited earning potential).

During my 8 years in my last position, my responsibilities quadrupled, but my wages and title barely budged. I lived in a state of functional burnout for at least 4+ years and did not have energy for life outside of work. In a field that I loved and was so passionate about, I had no career trajectory, no health insurance, no recognition for the $360K new revenue stream I created and managed, to name just one example.

Now I’ll probably quadruple my last salary this year! Work feels playful and fun, I’m re-energized to enjoy life outside of work, I have a flexible schedule, I’m working less, learning more, my boss knows my value and is so appreciative that I’m getting in office concierge acupuncture, daily lunch, and other amazing perks. In fact, I have more wellness in my life than I ever had during my wellness career.

Thank you, Jennifer, and the Dream Catcher Community. I’m thrilled.

K. B., Director of Operations

Overcoming 30 years of trauma + drama

With just 6 months in Jen’s Dream Catchers Community, I’m overcoming 30 years of trauma + drama as an overworked, underpaid employee and freelancer.

Yup! Even when working for myself, I nearly always created the same stressful, unsustainable work situations I felt trapped in as an employee.

Being in Jen’s orbit has encouraged me to define and refine the work I’m here to do AND recognize how valuable I am to others, just as I am. It turns out my “quirks” that some people criticize are uncommon marketable skills to others (who happily pay a premium to have me on their team).

My inclinations to nitpick, daydream, and tumble down internet rabbit holes are seen by my clients as “exceptional attention to detail”, “creative genius”, and “stellar research skills” — go figure!

Can you imagine that after 30+ years of being mocked, teased, or punished for being myself, I now feel free to be me? I expect to be appreciated and rewarded for it, too, and whattaya know, I am. I’d given up on work getting any better, but smack dab in the middle of midlife (and the pandemic), here it is.

Thanks to Jen Shryock and my fellow Dream Catchers, I expect my future work to be more fun than my past work and pay way better, too. Here I’ve been anxious that I may never get to retire, and now I’m not sure that I’ll want to 😉

It was time to get crystal clear on my Why.

As a military spouse, I spent 15 years on assigned locations with no real direction to my career, except the knowledge that I’d leave each job in 2-4 years.

With my stunted professional growth and a military retirement on the horizon, I looked to Jennifer. She gave me the language, confidence, and most importantly, the space to dig deep and decide for myself what it was I wanted in my upcoming career.

Instead of searching job openings, Jennifer helped me give myself permission to first decide what I wanted. Then I marketed myself to the job I wanted, not just the jobs I could fill. My real aha moment was that deep down I craved feeling masterful at something. It was time to get crystal clear on my “why.”

My new social worker role is equal parts comfortable and challenging. This feels like the recipe for a long-term engagement!

I accepted the position after negotiating well beyond my comfort zone. Your program fueled so much of my confidence and inspired me with just the right amount of language practice and play that the interview and negotiation process felt pretty natural, even virtually.

I was skeptical of another “one size fits all” or “magic button” program. But I quickly realized in the Dream Job Magnet workshop and Dream Catchers Community that Jennifer’s modus operandi is not to suggest I say the magic thing, but rather to help me receive awareness that was smoldering inside myself the whole time.

If you find yourself standing on the precipice of a pivotal moment in your work life, Jennifer is a north star.

Melissa DeMarino, Social Worker

Jennifer works magic by helping you find your dreams and weave them into a viable future. She helps you connect to your center, a grounding process that resets all the stuff that gets in the way of becoming ones’ best self.

Since starting my work with her, I have built a blog and started a new business. I can truly say I am on my way to living the dreams that have tugged at my heart for years. I recommend her wholeheartedly.

My interview coaching experience with Jennifer was outstanding!

Jennifer helped me prepare, provided great insight on what interviewers are looking for, and a strategy to have a successful interview.

Thank you!!!

p.s. I got the job!

Crystal Beckman

Thanks so much for the session today. I’m just getting back into the job searching world and this was a wonderful refresher. Lots to marinate on and I look forward to my next interview.

Jennifer has excellent advice! I watched one of her videos and got some great advice that saved me from further submitting my existing resume, which was littered with the wrong type of information. Thank you Jennifer!

Brent S

Jennifer taught me how to get right to the good stuff!

Before I met Jennifer, I dreaded the interview question, “Tell Us About Yourself.” It was so hard to answer! I found it confusing. Are they asking for personal information or professional? It’s so generic, boring and open-ended, I thought it was just an ice breaker, like, “How are you doing?”

After 10 minutes with Jennifer, everything’s changed! Now I know how to answer in a way that will frame the whole interview. That makes me feel confident and in control.

I can tell Jennifer has been doing this for a long time, she’s so good!

Ari Santamaria

Wanted to share that I ultimately got a state director job with the resume your and your team created.

I’m doing better than ever, happy my work, and financially fantastic, and y’all are a big part of that.

Jennifer came into my life at exactly the right time!

At a point in my life when I was feeling a lot of uncertainty around my profession and future endeavors, Jennifer’s excellent coaching helped me achieve the clarity I so desperately was seeking. Her talents truly are endless! I can’t tell you enough about how much I appreciated her compassionate insight, wisdom, and advice.

The process we went through during our sessions absolutely helped me grow! I learned about myself, discovered themes, and charted a new direction to create a fruitful and fulfilling career.

Not only did she help provide clarity and direction, but she also provided ACTIONABLE steps to achieve my goals. That was priceless!

I feel rejuvenated, encouraged, and know the future is bright all thanks to her!

Jen – you’ve touched my heart in ways I did not know possible. Thank you, thank you, thank you for all of your support, encouragement, and love!

Before I had my first session with Jennifer I was in a state of paralysis when it came to branding. On some level I knew who it was that I served and what I offered them, but I couldn’t clearly and succinctly articulate it. Jennifer helped me verbalize what it is that I do through a series of thought-provoking questions. I look forward to working with Jennifer as my brand evolves.

Hey Jennifer,

Thought I would let you know our son Josh is now in Bellingham WA. He was offered an amazing job opportunity there.

We wanted to thank you again for assisting him with his resume while he was in college.

Take Care and have a Great day!

Hello Jennifer! Just a note to let you know how grateful I am that I participated in your Job Interview Academy earlier in the year. Happily, it has been a busy hiring season and when calls to interview came, I was ready!

I now have 3 offers and am waiting to hear about 2 more.

Sarah Saint-Laurent

(only half joking) Your resume and cover letter saved my marriage.

First, my wife was able to get the job of her dreams with her (Rainmaker) resume. Her company moved us all to another state.

Then I got so many interviews from that cover letter and resume you wrote. There’s no way I should have gotten through the (Fortune 50 company’s) screening. I found a great job.

Patrick M

I was embarrassed. I didn’t know how to talk about getting fired. Especially with family and friends, not to mention in an interview. Now I can. I’m ready. You’ve done a lot for me. Thank you.

I found this retreat so good for the spirit and body, I would gladly go again.
I felt a bit nervous about the trip as I did not know if I had the physical conditioning to be hiking much in the park. I soon found this few day trip was as refreshing, fun and inspiring or more so than a two week vacation. It was amazingly nourishing and refreshing for the mind and spirit. Yes, I did have some very sore muscles. But we had an amazing park guide (Melissa) who gave us  so much helpful information and  support for our level of physical ability. She encouraged and supported us throughout out our hikes.
Jennifer had amazing guidance and insight as we delved into our spirit walk.  I found her instruction and guided activities fun, helpful, supportive and inspiring. Being in nature really did help nurture all of us. And Jennifer and Melissa were very nurturing in our quest, our journey to follow the “inner compass.”
I am incredibly grateful for this experience and I highly recommend this retreat. It seemed to spark a very positive change in me. Perhaps it is still unfolding…

“Feeling connected, centered and confident after an amazing retreat with the amazing Jennifer Shryock. I faced some fears on the trail, got inspired by spectacular scenery and seven amazing women. Plus learned a fabulous new mind/body tool, had a sun gong bath and saw a moose. Ahhhh!!!

I wrote pages of guidance in my retreat journal that are so juicy and relevant to all that happened on our trip. (I continue to find confirmation) that the guidance we talked about on the trail is real and can be found in the most playful ways. I am feeling a stronger sense of my body’s center today and grateful to have shared this beautiful trip with all of you. Still feeling the stillness and grandeur of Glacier National Park.”

“I’m more aware of beauty around me and now I soak it in, receive it and feel a part of it. There’s a magical give and take with nature that I hadn’t named before. I feel like a gorilla, so surefooted and at one with nature!

I feel elated and free. Over and over, I was rewarded with spectacular views, a sense of accomplishment, and camaraderie. There was a bond between everyone. It started immediately, then continued to grow.”

“I loved this experience. It fed me in unexpected ways. The beginning day at the Dancing Spirit Ranch was a beautiful start. With Glacier guide (Melissa) and coaching activities (Jennifer), I’ve developed an appreciation for Glacier that I’m sure I wouldn’t have received without your combined expertise. What a fantastic opportunity to develop and increase a love of all things nature!

Jennifer’s guidance was lovely: strong and compassionate, gentle and informative. I’m aware of ways of experiencing myself, emotions, and internal guidance that were powerful for me and I leave with new ways and possibilities.

The details like accommodations, meals, hikes were beautifully thought out and there was truly something that always worked for people.

Would LOVE to do this again.”

Mary Korsmo

“I was skeptical about a Medicine Walk retreat. In fact, in my journal the first day I wrote: ‘I can’t believe I am doing this! It might be one of the best things I have done for myself…or not?’ I am so pleased to tell you that this WAS one of the best things I have EVER done for myself. I believe I have started down the path to a better understanding of who I am and how I want to live these ‘golden’ years. I am anxious to continue to learn and discern.

(Afterwards, having discovered the power of a retreat): What was once an office, play room, and catch-all room has been transformed into a retreat where I can relax, rest, and ponder. I have moved in a reading chair, lamp, favorite art pieces and even a water feature!

You did an exceptional job of meeting individual needs during the retreat and I especially appreciated the lack of pressure. All I can say is that the accommodations, leadership, both yours and Melissa’s, and experiences were well worth the expense. I wish there would be a way to convey that to future retreaters. My friend, who had expressed interest, declined due to the cost. She has hiked all over Glacier, but underestimated the value of your guidance, Melissa’s guidance, and the exceptional accommodations. Wait til she hears what she missed!

You are an amazing woman, coach, and (now) friend. I look forward to seeing you again.”

Christie Deck

“Before attending Jennifer’s Glacier Quest Medicine Walk Retreat, I felt that I had read enough books, attended enough seminars, and taken enough classes. Despite this, I was lacking some of the confidence I desired as a coach who would like to serve others. I needed a way to bring all of my learning home so I could really own my skills as a coach.

From the first day at the magical Dancing Spirit Ranch to the remaining days in the incredibly beautiful Glacier National Park, Jennifer lead us through a quest to connect with our individual sacred ideals and intentions for the retreat. She helped us identify, observe, and connect to the guidance coming from within us and to all the messages coming through the hikes and the abundance of life all around us.

Melissa Scott joined our group as a guide and her two decades of experience as a naturalist were invaluable to this quest as well. Throughout the journey, both Jennifer and Melissa took care to ensure we got the most out of our experience of learning, healing, and transforming.

More than ever before, I know I can trust my guidance and that means I am emerging from this retreat a much more confident coach. I will take this transformation with me and always hold it close to my heart. Thank you so much Jennifer!”

Jen is a wonderful coach and person. She is helpful at role-playing and gaming out potential questions and helped me prepare for a second interview for an Executive Director level position. Given that the organization’s process was not very clear, prepping with Jen was extremely helpful. I would definitely hire her again and recommend her to others.

Jennifer’s presentation at the Montana Equal Pay Summit on Negotiating Your Way to Yes provided some of the most practical, usable skills of the entire conference.  Her wisdom, experience, deep caring and authenticity shine through.  One attendee reported that she immediately used the skills shared to negotiate a better salary in a job interview the following week! Jennifer works hard to create content that is relevant to her audience, and conveys it in the most fun and engaging way!

When we were putting together the first ever Montana Young Professionals Summit, we wanted to make sure we had an agenda that was worth the time and money of the attendees, and Jennifer Shryock was at the top of our list. Out of all the panelists, and presenters; she was the most talked about, and requested for the next year. I would recommend Jennifer, and would be happy to bring her into future events!

“Jennifer was an incredible facilitator during her Labyrinth workshop. I walked out a different person than I walked because I released such pent up emotions using her tools and process. Jennifer exudes warmth and compassion and created a beautiful open space for us to be able to share our thoughts and experience. You can feel her passion for using the labyrinth as a coaching tool. It was brilliant that she had us walk the labyrinth and then shared her recommended process before having us walk it a second time. During the guided walk, I could see how my lack of intention during the first walk did not allow me to get out of my monkey mind. The guidance before the second walk led me to set an intention and then drop it away in order to receive the guidance and release what was no longer wanted. It was a great metaphor for so many things in life. Thank you Jennifer for this wonderful experience! I will definitely participate if you conduct future workshops!”

“My experience in the (labyrinth) workshop brought so much up for me. Jennifer skillfully provided a safe yet open environment and structure for me to work through my issues. I felt held and gently challenged simultaneously. The format was engaging, informative and Jen’s delivery and instruction were crystal clear. Jennifer left room for collaboration and feedback as she led us through a magical experience. “

The process was simple and afforded me the time to prepare for interviews and care for my family. I will recommend Rainmaker Resume to anyone needing a professional resume!”

And although I’d previously been told I didn’t interview well, after receiving interview coaching from Jennifer, I went in much more confident and prepared. After the interview, I was told I was in the top three prospective candidates! Thank you so much!”

“Dear Jennifer,
Just want to thank you for the resume you created for me. I have had a breakthrough with my job findings these last two weeks. I’m in serious contention to land a dream job! “Jennifer, you offered more than what I paid you for and did a better job than I expected! You present yourself very well, especially your ability with words. I learned more about wording, which your experience really brings to the table.”

James Sessions

“As an executive with 25-plus years experience writing and tuning my own resume and reviewing 100s of others, I’ve never needed “outside help.” I recently found myself short on time and needing a strong proofreader for a final review. I contracted with Jennifer based on her local reputation for business visioning and consulting. I expected basic corrections, some layout refinements, and perhaps a few minor useful suggestions.

I was extremely surprised with Jennifer’s response. Going far beyond catching typos and awkward sentences, Jennifer added very significant value to my content. She better focused my resume for the target job, she tightened up the cover letter significantly, and she gave the whole package a visual polish you only get from a graphic designer – simple, clean, and highly readable. Most impressive was that she didn’t disrupt or lose the personality and tone I wished to convey; she clearly improved them.

I strongly recommend Jennifer to experienced professionals. She is fun to work with, she focuses on understanding YOUR goal, and her work just sparkles. In short, Jennifer “gets” the hiring process.”

Arthur Held
Senior IT Executive

Update: “Yes, I got the job (Director of Information Systems)! Bottom line? I earned the offer due to my skills, but I got the interview because of my resume. Thank you!”

“I had the post-graduation blues. My gown and chords were neatly tucked into a dresser drawer and the cap dangled by the tassel on a closet hanger. A neatly bound degree sat on my desk. Four years of study culminated in a pompous robe and a certificate inked in fancy calligraphy. Jobless and penniless, I set out in search of employment.

The stagnant Missoula job market greeted me with an unexpected silence, exciting prospects fizzled, and promising leads uncovered dead ends. Then, Jennifer intervened.

After I hired Rainmaker to revamp my Resume and Cover Letter, I was instantly invited for an interview. Panic promptly rooted itself deep in my stomach, squashing any sense of relief I may have felt. I had never really interviewed before, not for a real job.

Soon we were at The Break for Interview Coaching. Jennifer and I talked about what to expect, how to dress, the right answer to every question, and the right questions to ask. It was hard to believe I could be so prepared for an interview–it felt a bit like cheating!

The interview went well. Loosening my tie as I left the office, I remember wishing the interviewers had challenged me more.

Facing the real world can be overwhelming for a recent graduate. Jennifer’s resume was great and after she’d coached me, interviewing was an accessible, almost effortless endeavor. Thank you!”

“Jennifer,
Thanks for your excellent insight and experience as we worked together on a new resume and then interview coaching.

You have cheerfully guided me through the process and given me confidence to explore new opportunities.

You also have a way of asking the “right” questions to get at my own experience and personality and then crafting the words which sound just like me, but a better, polished version of myself.

I learn something each time we speak.

Thanks again for your timeliness in meeting my resume rush, and I look forward to working with you again, soon.

Sincerely,
Marianne Miller”

“I hired Jennifer to craft a cover letter and resume for my job search, but as we worked on those we discussed a potential opportunity with my present employers. Jennifer helped me prepare to negotiate a promotion in the hopes of creating a new position at my current company. Success!

Jennifer’s professionalism and sage advice in the arena of management, resume crafting and as a career counselor could not be better. It is often said the business professional has few peers of which one can share critical career strategy. Jennifer, from my experience, has earned a place in my inner circle of advisers.”

Update: “I got the promotion!”

“For any professional, whether you’re already employed or not, Rainmaker Resumes (Jennifer Shryock) is a phenomenal resource. Jennifer has a unique way of making not only prospective employers but yourself see and realize the true potential inside. People tend to forget about how capable and experienced they are. Jennifer gets to the heart of the matter and makes your resume really shine. The boost to your confidence and self-worth is worth every penny alone and the increase in pay from your future employer makes this one of the best investments you’ll ever make.”

Dave Pyron, CEO

“I was amazed at how well my resume turned out. I never considered how important format and organization of information really is. I would recommend Rainmaker to anyone, especially in this job market. You simply MUST have a professional resume.”

Joe Fowler

“Jennifer professionally read my resume, met with me, showed me examples of professional resumes, and provided some interview coaching.

From advising to coaching to actual crafting, she offers it all regarding resumes and interview coaching. I found her to be professional and personable while remaining focused on the tasks at hand.

As to her fees, I can testify they are below the quality of the services she offers. Heck I even said she probably should raise her rates!

You will be in great hands, of that I am confident.”

Christopher Cable

Update: “I had an interview with a company. Actually two!

During round one the interviewer was mightily impressed with the section on my resume “What people are saying”. He thought that was rather clever, liked it very much.

So yet once again, I am thanking you!”

Jennifer Shryock is a genius! I was offered the first job I applied to after receiving her assistance. She crafted a resume that highlighted my knowledge, skills, and accomplishments and demonstrated proof of my abilities.

I especially valued her interview instruction. I am usually very nervous during interviews, but Jennifer taught me how to present myself confidently and eloquently. I felt more prepared and empowered during the interview than ever before.

Jennifer was genuinely interested and invested in my success. She was wonderful to work with and I would highly recommend her to anyone applying for jobs.”

Christine Morris

Jen is just amazing at what she does! If you want someone who is super “in tune” with anything technical in writing, Jen is your go-to person. She also has a very modern pulse of things related to social media and able to get you results there too. She is professional, timely, hard working, intelligent and most importantly, a compassionate and ethical person. When I have the chance to hire Jen again, I will do without hesitation.”

Mike Birnbaum

Jennifer did an exceptional job helping me create a resume that I would be proud to send to a potential employer. She is a wealth of knowledge for any job seeker out there, her skills are great for folks that are employed and would like to have a resume ready to go if the need arises!

“I have had the pleasure of working with Jennifer Shryock over the course of the past four months. She has been a valuable resource and support.

I made a major career change in January 2014, and was seeking professional assistance to update my resume and create a more professional, focused LinkedIn page. Jennifer has been incredible to work with in both of these aspects. She has a true gift for listening and creativity for which I am grateful.

In addition to the professional assistance I received in regards to my resume and social media, I began working with Jennifer as a life coach. The knowledge, resources and new found perspective I have gained during this process will carry with me for the rest of my life. In my opinion, Jennifer has a natural gift, skill-set, and propensity in this field. Thanks to Jennifer’s coaching skills, I now carry with me a set of “life tools” I am blessed to possess. They will help me tremendously in all areas and aspects of my life.

I would highly recommend Jennifer Shryock as an astute professional and gifted life coach.”

“Jennifer Shryock helped me on short notice regarding a salary negotiation for which I needed immediate input. She made time for me to meet with her that same day and in 15 to 20 minutes coached me on critical dos and don’ts of how to properly value my expertise, discuss various negotiation strategies, and develop a mental guide for me to use during the negotiation to determine what offer(s) I would or would not accept. I followed her advice and got what I wanted. Thanks, so much, Jennifer!”

“Jennifer helped me focus in on the effective presentation and promotion of my editing business. From honing in on my ideal clients to teasing out the benefits of my services to improving the impact of my website, Jennifer was full of creative ideas and helpful insights. She is knowledgeable, professional, and fun to work with. I highly recommend her for business as well as personal promotion.”

Marge Hulbert Writer, Editor, Book Coach

“Jennifer Shryock is a genius. As a business coach running my own practice, I haven’t needed a resume in over 12 years. When I decided to apply for a teaching position, I knew I needed some help telling the story of my business in a way that would show me as the best candidate. Truly, Jennifer made the process so easy AND fun. Not only that, but the resume that came out of the process is a fabulous representation of me, my work and the best that I have to offer to not only an organization but also to my clients. I highly recommend Jennifer’s work if you want a clear, powerful resume that captures the essence of your unique awesome. Thank you Jennifer!!”
