The Rainmaker writing process

Now it’s our turn! You get to sit back and relax (or go about life as usual, but we hope that includes some play time) while we dive in to the deeps of the writing process. Here’s what’s happening on our dive.

The Rainmaker Team Goes to Work
Once we see all your documents — have we mentioned that we’ll need your former resume & completed questionnaire before we begin? — we start the writing process.

Your dedicated writer will reach out to you via our file sharing app, called Submittable. If you do not receive any communication, please email us at team@rainmakerresume.com so we can fix this issue quickly. Once you’ve uploaded, all communication with your writer happens through Submittable, so we want to make sure you’re getting our hellos and draft-ready notifications!

Here’s What’s Happening Behind the Scenes
1. Your dedicated writer will now be hard at work—and play—creating an accomplishment-driven draft highlighting your best qualities and biggest wins.

2. Once the for-Rainmaker-eyes-only draft is complete, it undergoes a rigorous peer review where an eagle-eyed expert writer looks for areas of improvement, assesses tone and word choice, and provides feedback.

3. Your primary writer goes back to work to implement suggestions made during the peer review.

4. Then your draft goes to owner, Jennifer, for another review. Your primary writer responds, once again.

5. Only after each of us have brought all of our expertise and tender loving care to your draft is it delivered to you.

Official Draft to You
We’re so excited for you to see your fancy new Rainmaker draft(s)!

You’ll receive an email from your writer letting you know that your official draft is ready for your review. This first draft comes to you on or before the due date we’ve discussed – usually about two weeks from the informational interview, but of course it depends on when you uploaded your docs as well as our docket.

We’ll upload the official draft into the file sharing app, where you’ll be able to preview and download it.

You’l need to download the document to see it in the correct format. Preview panes will alter the original formatting. Unless you are a senior C-level executive—occasionally those resumes go to 3 pages—your resume should be 2 pages or less. Please let us know if the layout looks off, especially if there’s a small overhang onto an additional page.

Note to Mac Users: We use Microsoft Word for our resumes because they can be used in most applicant tracking systems and the .pages format is rarely accepted with these systems. We can provide you with a final pdf showing our formatting and the final editable Word document. It will be up to you to modify your document’s formatting if you want a .pages version.

Hope you’re enjoying this process as much as we are!
